Croptiscan 9000: Data-Driven Crop Health Monitoring with the Croptiscan

The Croptiscan responds to two major pressures in modern agriculture: the shortage of skilled labour and the growing demand for efficiency and quality.

In intensive cropping systems, maintaining a clear overview of crop health across entire fields is a recurring challenge. Viral and bacterial infections such as Y-virus, leaf roll virus, and bacterial diseases can occur unevenly within a crop, making them difficult to assess through occasional field walks alone. Growers are increasingly looking for solutions that provide consistent, repeatable insight without adding labour pressure during the growing season.

To address this challenge, the Croptiscan was deployed as a field-scale crop health monitoring tool. Powered by AI and dual RGB cameras, the system scans crops at plant level while autonomously navigating through the field. Visual data is analysed in real time to identify patterns associated with viral and bacterial infections, producing objective and uniform observations across the entire area.

During operation, the Croptiscan used GPS-based tracking and marking to link each detection to an exact field position. With a scanning capacity of up to 4 hectares per hour, the system covered large plots efficiently, eliminating the need for extensive manual scouting.

By automating crop health monitoring, the Croptiscan contributes to time savings, more efficient use of inputs, and better protection of yield quality.

Developed by Croptimal, the Croptiscan demonstrates how AI-driven robotics can be practically integrated into everyday crop management. By translating visual field data into actionable insights, the system supports more precise decision-making and contributes to a more efficient, data-driven approach to crop protection.
